LALIGA HYPERMOTION’s relentless promotion tussle

Every team aspires to finish first or second in order to achieve direct promotion to LALIGA EA SPORTS. Leganes are the current leaders, with Elche CF hot on their heels.

There are only 11 matchdays left in LALIGA HYPERMOTION with no sign of any of the teams involved letting up in their intensity. Direct promotion is the number one objective of the clubs fighting to reach LALIGA EA SPORTS, who are keen to avoid the potentially agonising lottery of the play-offs.

The league table is a fair reflection of how tight this season has been, with only three points separating Club Deportivo Leganes, top on 56 points, and Elche CF. The two clubs are battling to hang on to the direct promotion spots, with Elche’s position particularly precarious given that RCD Espanyol and SD Eibar are only a point behind them.

Meanwhile, Real Sporting and Burgos CF, who have 49 points apiece, sit in fifth and sixth place in the table, occupying the final play-off places. Eibar are only three points ahead of them, but Real Valladolid and Real Oviedo are breathing down their necks, just a point behind. Also in close contention are the north coast duo of Racing de Ferrol and Real Racing Club.

These narrow point gaps speak volumes of what’s been an unpredictable and closely-fought campaign. Any team is capable of beating any other and one slip-up or victory could see the occupants of the play-off places be jumbled up or the first and second place sides fall away from direct promotion. The countdown has firmly begun to see who will claim glory and reach the Spanish topflight.
