LaLiga Santander stars set to shine at the 2019 Copa America

The players will do battle in Brazil from 14 June until 7 July

Many LaLiga Santander players already have their bags packed and are ready to head off to Brazil in the coming days to take part in the 2019 Copa America. The superstars will compete in the cities of Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre and Salvador between 14 June and 7 July for the biggest prize in South America.

Uruguay, the most successful country in the tournament's history with 15 trophies in their cabinet, are also among the teams with the most Spain-based players in their ranks. The squad contains stars such as Luis Suarez, the country's all-time leading goalscorer, Atletico Madrid legend Diego Godin and his teammate Jose Maria Gimenez, Real Madrid's Federico Valverde, Girona FC's Cristhian Stuani and RC Celta's Maxi Gomez.

Hosts Brazil are desperate to taste success in the tournament for the first time in 12 years and will be looking to make home advantage count. The team are filled with big LaLiga Santander names, such as FC Barcelona's Arthur and Philippe Coutinho, while Casemiro will be representing Los Merengues and Atletico's Filipe Luis will hope to be charging up and down the left flank for the Canarinha on home soil.

Argentina, who will be led by captain Lionel Messi, are the second most successful team in Copa America history, with 14 titles to their name. Besides the Barcelona number 10, who is vying for his first major honour with the senior national team, the Albiceleste can also call upon Villarreal CF's Ramiro Funes Mori and Real Betis's Giovani Lo Celso, who signed for the club on a permanent basis in April.

Arturo Vidal is the superstar of a Chile team that also contains D. Alaves's Guillermo Maripan and will be on the hunt to retain the trophy that they clinched in the United States in 2016.

RCD Espanyol duo Hernan Perez and Roberto Rosales have been called up by Paraguay and Venezuela, respectively, with the latter also selecting the recently relegated Huesca pair of Yangel Herrera and Juan Pablo Añor, as well as Mikel Villanueva (Nastic) and Darwin Machis (Cadiz CF), who will be representing LaLiga 1|2|3.

Atletico right-back Santiago Arias will once again be defending the wing for a Colombia side that are keen to build on their promising recent World Cup displays in Brazil and Russia.

Another player who will be heading to Brazil from Madrid is Luis Advincula, with the Rayo Vallecano right-back part of the squad of two-time Copa America winners Peru (1939 and 1975).

Japan, who have been invited to take part in the Copa America for the second time in their history, also have a LaLiga Santander representative in their ranks, with Getafe CF's Gaku Shibasaki set to feature for Hajime Moriyasu's charges in Brazil.
